Prague

Prague is a beautiful city on the Vltava river. Prague is known for the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and its amazing castle.
To us, Prague is known for its 100 degree weather OR massive rainstorms.  Each year it has been one or the other. This year, we were really lucky. We only had a little rain during the first day and then it was actually very pleasant.

We did our walking tour, we didn't lose any scholars and the day was really fun. For the first time in GYLC history... we did not have to send anyone home for drinking... its amazing. I don't know if the kids just got smarter this year or if they really didn't drink but overall, Prague was very smooth.
We had time to stop for ice cream, eat AWESOME Indian food, buy some pashminas and we even explored a part of town that was new to me. We visited the John Lennon Wall. It started in the 80's when people wanted to quietly protest Communism. The wall is covered by quotes and lyrics inspired by Lennon. It is a very awesome thing.

Way back in 2006, we discovered this gem across the street and around the corner from our hotel and we have been coming back ever since. Its the perfect place to go without having to really go. The staff usually remembers us and loves the few days of every July that "The Americans" are there. This year, we were pleasantly surprised to find the Nats game on at the bar (a little piece of home) with some super cheap beers. In Prague... beer cost less money than water!

It was a good summer in Prague!
