Welcome to our home!
After narrowing down the ideal locations for travel distance from our jobs and then spending a few weeks searching Craigslist and such....we found our home. Having spent these past months living so far apart, having OUR home together has been exciting in itself and then add to it the great apartment that we found. It is our happy place!
Our apartment really is ideal: It is in a great location. It has a garage for all of our camping supplies. It has two bedrooms, so we can have visitors. (we are super close to the airport too hint hint) It has a balcony (with this AMAZING view of The Bay!) It was newly renovated and so it has a kick ass kitchen. It gets great natural light and air flow. It has parking for both of us. It is on the top floor. Our neighbors are friendly and quiet. It is perfect!
Oh and let us not forget the most awesome part... the Jacuzzi tub! It has lights and jets and awesomeness! (Yes, we bought a rubber ducky as soon as we signed the lease)
We also bought a new couch and a new desk. We built both of those with minimal difficulty and we are still in search of the best dining room table for our space.

We bought a little grill that is great for our front porch and also will double as our new camping and tailgating grill!

Our kitchen is beautiful and big! It has a built in breakfast bar and so much counter space. I finally have a place to put my mixer that has been in the box since I lived in Florida! We were the first people to use our dishwasher and our fridge and our landlord says when the oven craps out she will replace that for us. She already has one picked out. They say the kitchen is the heart of a house.... ours really is.
And on top of it all, our location is AMAZING! We can literally see Ryan's office from our balcony. It takes him about 5 minutes to get to work. My school is 17 minutes away with traffic. We live in a cute little town called Brisbane. It is 8 miles away from the center of downtown San Francisco and it is a great small town sanctuary super close to the city.
I have referred to it as Stars Hollow a few times. It has the tree-lined Main Street with our hardware store and the Midtown Market. All of the fire hydrants have been painted with individual designs by the local Women's club. The Rotary and the Town Council are very active. Brisbane is called the City of Stars because of ongoing tradition during the holiday season where almost all of the houses and businesses put up lighted stars so that people driving by on Highway 101 and boats in the Bay can see the stars light up our mountain side. I feel like its going to be very cool!
Every Thursday, we go to the Farmer's Market for some awesome fruits, veggies, kettle corn and honey. Friday nights in the summer there are free concerts in the park with the bands playing under the gazebo. In a few weeks they are having the Box-car races and the skate park is always busy.
It is awesome to feel so Small Town but yet have such easy access to City Life too. Right now the excitement all over town is that the Water Department is finally going to offer online payments soon. We had to go to City Hall to turn on our water. I am pretty sure that is how they knew to add 2 more happy citizens to the signs you pass when you come into town.
