To get south we took 17 Mile Drive, a.k.a. the scenic route. Along the drive we saw some amazing sights, including the Lone Cypress.
The California coastline is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
We stayed in the Big Sur Lodge and did some great day hikes and such. The Big Sur Lodge was a perfect place for us. The Lodge had a bar and grill and we had our own little cabin with a back porch for wine drinking, a fireplace inside and a separate room for the kids. The one downfall... the wild turkeys. They were EVERYWHERE!!!
I enlisted the kids to help scare them away with the "Turkey Dance"... you'll note... it's very similar to "The Chicken Dance."
After the turkeys were sufficiently scared away, we went for a good hike and took a stroll in the river by our cabin.
For dinner the second night we went to The Big Sur Inn. This place was cool. It had lounge chairs IN the river and awesome Redwood Trees EVERYWHERE.
Big Sur is a beautiful place and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who likes to see pretty things and be in pretty places.
